Obeikan Education designs and delivers K-12 curricula for math, natural sciences, Arabic, and English by international standards and in collaboration with global leaders. All development is carried out according to the latest research in curriculum development, professional development, as well as research aimed at the improvement of teaching and learning environment, medium, and processes.

Obeikan Education has completed three phases in the development of Math and Science curricula for the Ministries of Education in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain in alliance with McGraw Hill Education. We have delivered student books, teacher guides, supplementary materials in electronic format and in print, as well as a complete professional development solution for teachers to allow them an easy shift to the new curriculum. Under the Math and Science Development Project, Obeikan Education successfully delivered:

  • Scope and Sequence for Science and Mathematics for grades 1 through 12
  • Localisation of educational materials such as student textbook, activity book, and teacher guide
  • Supplementary materials, such as teacher’s assessment package, teaching resources, videos, CD materials
  • Electronic educational portal
  • Comprehensive training and professional development programme, for teachers and specialists

Obeikan Education has also completed the development of 1-12 curricula in Arabic, social studies, and Islamic studies for the Saudi Academies operated by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project provides cultural, linguistic and religious support to young Saudis living overseas. Obeikan Education managed the professional development of instructional staff in those academies.

Obeikan Education also completed the authoring of concept atlases for the Arab Bureau of Education for Gulf States (ABEGS). The Atlases serve as a road-map for the creation of curricula as well as improvement of teaching and learning in the subjects of Arabic, English, IT structure, social studies, physical education, math, natural sciences, Islamic studies, and arts. ABEGS also chose Obeikan Education to complete a research on the tests for grades 9 and 12 within the GCC member states.

Cambridge Obeikan, an Obeikan Education affiliate, has developed a six-level English language course called “Primary Colours”. Right from the start, children are fully involved in thinking for themselves, doing things themselves, and making things themselves in a well-structured reading and writing syllabus that has been developed to address the requirements of Arab learners. Activities and exercises have been written with an awareness of children's interests and preferences in addition to an understanding of their cultural and religious background.

The Audio Cassette/CD can be used in the classroom or at home to provide extra practice. Delightfully illustrated Vocabulary Cards are also available to practise the target language for levels 1 and 2.

The course takes into account the conditions of classroom from the teachers' perspective. Activities have been designed with options that can be followed according to class size, arrangement of pupils and the resources available. The Teacher's Book provides detailed notes and suggestions for every lesson of the Pupil's Book and Workbook. Step-by-step instructions ensure that all exercises and activities can be successfully completed no matter what level of experience the teacher might bring to the classroom.

Cambridge Obeikan also developed a four-level English language course called “Messages” which takes students to Intermediate level (B1 CoE/PET/Cambridge ESOL). Each level is designed to provide 80-90 hours of classwork.

The course is divided into six modules at each level. Each module has a strong theme to contextualise the new language and provide a link with the student’s own world and experience. Each module is divided into two units with clear learning objectives and step-by-step practice in grammar, vocabulary and social English. Each unit concludes with an Extra reading page which explores life and culture in English speaking countries. Levels 1 and 2 contain serialised stories, specially written for learners in the Arab world.

At the end of each module there is a coursework activity in which the students prepare their own work on a specific theme. The student builds up his/her own portfolio of work throughout each level of the course and this in turn provides a platform for cross-cultural comparison and personalisation, thereby taking English out of the classroom and into the student’s own culture and experience.

Recycling of language is a feature throughout the course and Extra activities provide consolidation and further practice to cater for mixed-ability groups.
